You said you planned on overclocking and the Ivy Bridge series overclocks very well. You'll get some great performance out of that chip straight out of the box and even better performance once you begin to overclock her. It won't disappoint you. Definitely worth it!

Based on your "uses" for this build I would suggest an I7 3770k as it would do you much more justice in the aspects related to virtual machines, rendering, editing, etc. The Hyper-Threading on the I7 would benefit you. Other than that I would say its a pretty solid build! :D

Changed to the 3770k and the benchmarks were WAY off the charts....Is it worth it?
