fx 6350 6 core 3.9 ghz OR 4350 4 core 4.2 ghz

im aware that the future of gaming will be using more than 4 cores. at the moment i indulge in cpu intensive games like rome 2 total war. i also love mmos.

im in a quandry lads, which is best for a new rig build. i must add im keeping my old 1280x1024 monitor

sincerely,
help needed

You didn't list an optical drive or a case, but I presume they're within the $688.

I would go for neither - the 6300. It is pretty much identical to the 6350 but is not overclocked out of the box. It's cheaper and you can simply overclock it yourself if and when you decide to get a CPU cooler.

thanks sophie, i was just reading another thread where you helped immensly, basicly building a system for someone. unfortunately im going the magic micro pre built route and 6300 isnt an option. but if you had to choose, you are saying that the 63xx series is a better choice than the quad?

edit- price is keeping me from the beloved i5 =(

re edit-it seems the 6300 is an option after all but for an extra $15 bucks ill let the 6350 do the ocing for me

If you're on a budget I would still try and stretch to the 6350, purely for the better performance.

For $20 this build greatly surpasses in performance. The 7870 is an amazing card, though if you can afford the extra $35 I would go with the 760. I managed to squeeze a faster and large storage hard drive - the WD Green is quite a slow drive. This PSU is plenty for this system, and more.

Yes, the NZXT Source 210. It's a great case, especially for the price. Sites like Magic Micro just rip you off to build your PC, when really, if you do enough research, it's very simple. There's plenty of YouTube videos and articles online to show you how to assemble your PC. It can seem a bit daunting at first, but it's really just like lego for older people. :p

putting it together physically i can manage, sans maybe the proc placement, that scares me....but once put together do i need to flash bios or just turn on and pop in dvd?

You'll need to go to the bios to select boot order. This differs on each board but is fairly simple to change. Put the DVD burner as the first preference and then the drive you want to OS installed onto as the second. Then put it in the disc and restart the PC. Then just follow the Windows instructions. Here's a great video explaining what to do:
