I've been reading a couple of reviews where people complain about their graphics card dying in like 3-6 months. This brought me to another Question. How can I keep my video card operational for as long as possible? Is is a matter of cleaning, keeping it cool, what?

My second question, how can I keep my video card in shape when it's overclocked?

My future video card: XFX Double D FX-785A-CDFC Radeon HD 7850 2GB

Outside of Overclocking, its just hit or miss. In the last 10 years I've had at least a dozen cards (off the top of my head, 2x 9850's, X1850, 3850, 2x 4850's, 5850, and now 2x 7950's.) Outside of fans failing I'd never had any of the cards fail and all are still running to this day with the exception of my newest card, my second Sapphire 7950. I ordered it in February, it died on me the first week of June. Luckily Sapphires customer service was pretty good and it only took about 2 weeks to get a replacement.

Both overclocking and heat will reduce the life of a card, or anything for that matter.
How much will it reduce the life? hard to say and impossible to predict really.

Keeping the card cool and not going crazy with the overclocks will help prolong the life of the card.
