AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition worth it?

I was wondering if this CPU is worth buying for gaming nowadays as I'm on a small budget, it'll be paired with an HD 7850.

I built a 965 build in November, and only recently upgraded to an i7 3930k. I recommend buying the processor one hundred percent. Stable overclocking, and I ran games like Farcry 3, Battlefield, Black Ops, WoW, and really anything else I wanted. It's a great processor.

The great thing about AM3/AM3+ is that when you get more money you can get an 8100 or 8300, and you can keep your same motherboard. :)

Ofcourse . It is a great cpu. Depends on the game you are playing. but one of the best value/money CPU out there.
AND
IF I WERE YOU, I would somehow get $6 and get a 4100 and build it.
That would be like the best extra $6 of your life trust me.

Yeah my original plan was to go with an FX-6300 but unfortunately my budget got smaller due to bills and such. If the Phenom II x4 965 BE can keep me future proof for about 6 months or longer I'll pick it up. Might switch to a 650 ti BOOST as I'll be getting an MSI 970A-G46 MoBo

I ran an EVGA 660ti SC perfectly with that processor, I promise you will have no problems, especially at that resolution. Just OC the processor a bit, and you're rock solid. That thing is an overclockers dream. So simple. I'll gladly help you with anything you may need.

I personally would not recommend that graphics card as I do not recognize the manufacturer. I'm thinking spending the extra 50 bucks for an XFX or Asus branded 2gb 7850 would be a better choice, but that's all on you.

I decided to pick up a gigabyte GTX 650 ti BOOST would a 500w PSU be good enough or should I go to 550w in case I want to OC the 965 BE?

650ti BOOST should run perfect with 500w, however if you can spend a little extra on the PSU go ahead and get 550. If you don't mind me asking, how much money is the PSU you are currently thinking of buying?

Get this instead. It's a 550w gold PSU for only 10 dollars more. Just don't eat for a day, and you have your PSU. I recommend this PSU because although it is rated for 550w Seasonic have been known to actually be able to support much higher wattage on their PSUs. Also, it's gold certified as opposed to a vanilla 80plus cert, or 80plus bronze cert.

Trust me on this one. You do not want to skimp out on your PSU. And this one, for only 10 dollars more, will be your best purchase for your build.
