Hi guys, Ive just built my first PC and I am trying to install windows 8 pro onto it as the first and only OS.

My hardware:

FX6300 cpu
Gigabyte 970a-ud3 mobo
8gb Crucial ram
1TB HDD Seagate
LG 24x Optical Drive
7870 XFX GPU

Been trying to boot and install from the CD but it just freezes at the logo screen?

I may resort to using a copy of windows 7 if i turns out my hardware is not compatible with windows 8.

Any Ideas? I havent flashed BIOS or updated drivers as I have no idea how to do it, and believe you need a an OS already to do it?

Thanks guys!

i don't think it is a windows 8 compatibility problem because your parts are relevantly new. I have installed windows 8 on 5 - 6 year old pcs and worked fine. If you want to rule out the windows 8 problem try installing 7 to see if it is working and your copy is just problematic. from there after I would check the hard disk and ram because to be honest I think it is probably a hardware failure.

After getting the newest BIOS and trying to load another OS, if everything still hangs at boot, then you bought a bad piece of hardware. Try one piece of ram, then the other. Run a ram test. If it's not your ram, then chances are it's your motherboard.
