Hey all,

Finally getting my own gaming rig!
Now on advise of lot's of people, I will be building it myself :D (asking a friend to assist though).

Here's my info!!

Approximate Purchase Date: End of July or end of August.

Budget Range: 1100-1200€ (PC only).

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Mostly gaming!

Are you buying a monitor: Yes, probably ordering the the VG248QE soon.

Do you need to buy OS: No, got a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit ready.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: hardwareversand.de, amazon.co.uk, dabs.ie, pixmania.ie.

Location: Dublin, Ireland.

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU & NVidia GPU.

Overclocking: Yes, probably. At least I would like to have the ability!

SLI or Crossfire: Probably in the future.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080, 144hz.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Laptop broke, plus I want a 'future proof' gaming PC to run anything without any issues.

Item|Price
LogiLink USB 2.0 all-in-one Card Reader, für 3,5" Einbauchschacht|€3.32
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD|€29.52
Intel Core i5-3570K Box, LGA1155|€202.90
Corsair CX Series Modular CX750M, 750W|€83.98
FRACTAL DESIGN Define R4 Arctic White|€93.50
Samsung SH-224BB bare schwarz|€17.19
WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA 3 8,9cm(3,5")|€75.45
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 Windforce 3X OC, 2GB DDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort|€368.62
ASRock Z77 Extreme3, Sockel 1155, ATX|€109.19
8GB-Kit Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz CL9|€62.63
Shipping|€18.99
Total|€1065.29

Would everything be compatible?
Now I think I've arranged a pretty decent and awesome build here, but then again I am no expert.
Very nice GPU with the new 770 and with a MOBO that supports SLI so I can add another 770 in a year or something.
(That's also why I went for the 750W PSU, to be ready for a SLI).

I think the R4 is a really decent case.

I would like to get some advice as well on if I would want the Asrock Z77 Extreme3 or the Extreme4. It is only 15€ deerer. But what would I get for it? An eSata slot what I probably will never use?

Now I know this build doesn't include an SSD.
I do want an SSD, but it's not a requirement for me to start off. I can buy an SSD maybe two or three months later.
If I want to add an SSD to my build now, it's going to be a ~120GB one, due to budget.
If I add it a little later, it can be a ~250GB one.

How much would I want my SSD to be?
Operating system and my favorite games I suppose.

Oh and also, would you want to get a PCI audio card?

Now there is still some room in the budget.

Any thoughts, concerns and advice is greatly appreciated.

Better go for Haswell i5 4670K and hence the Z87 motherboard. That would be more future proof. I don't see why anyone would put so much money on a dead LGA 1155 socket. Haswell is the way to go buddy. There is no point in going for Ivy Bridge.

I'll go for the Extreme4 then Blackbird. It is only ~15€ more than the Extreme3 one, so I should be able to fit that in.

Any other thoughts on what Sangeet just said?
Ivy Bridge is dead, so I should go for Haswell.

The thing I did read somewhere is that there are no real benefits (yet?) for gaming coming from a Haswell in relation to the Ivy Bridge.
Haswell not for gamers

It'd be way better to buy locally than from a store in Germany. Try this website: http://www.dabs.ie.

You will save money on shipping costs and import fees.

Try this:

Case: Fractal Design Define R4 - €94.77
PSU: XFX Core Edition 650W - €92.40
Motherboard: Asrock Z87 Extreme 4 - €178.96
CPU: 3.4Ghz Intel Core i5-4670K - €178.96
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo - €31.21
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz 1.5V - €64.19
HD: 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue - €59.76
Optical: Lite On DVD Burner - €15.74
Video Card: EVGA Geforce GTX 770 - €422.54

Total: €1,191.55

- All links are to a store based in Ireland (saves on shipping among other things)
- Upgraded CPU to Haswell
- Case remains the same but swapped PSU to something much better
- Went with Z87 motherboard and EVGA GPU

Thanks for your concerns G-unit, but we don't actually have to pay duties.
I checked Duty calculator
''No duty and VAT charges because you are shipping between two EU countries''.

So we can go all out on hardwareversand :) Which is cheaper than dabs.
Shipping is only 18.99€ for the complete order.

Why would you recommand hasswell over ivy?

As of now, I would have:

That website is very interesting, I'll have to keep it bookmarked.

I almost always recommend the most current hardware you can get. Ivy is pretty much the end of the line for socket LGA 1155, socket LGA 1150 will have longer lifespan - maybe 2 - 3 years at the most.
