I just finished my first successful PC build! Woohoo!

My video card is an HIS radeon HD 7000 Ghz edition. It reaches about 55 degrees Celsius when playing BF3 on ultra for extended periods of time.

Im using iturbo, lets me do 1 second OC, (which I never use) control fan speeds, and monitor the GPU temp.

I'm just wondering, what temps should I consider too hot, when idle, under load, and OCing?

More about : hot hot radeon 7770

55C is great for playing under load. How are you able to max out BF3 with that card? Mine is a 7870 myst (7930 tahti LE) and I can barley do it.

I think anything under 70-75C under heavy load will be fine for a hd 7770..

Thanks for your reply! How did I max it out? I don't really know, I'm not overclocking at all. I just set the settings to ultra and started playing! No lag and amazing frame rates!

However I've heard that BF3 was very CPU intensive, so maybe that's why? I'm using an AMD FX 4100 quad-core. 3.6 ghz base clock. Not sure if that's good or not, but its really getting the job done!

it depends on the resolution
HD 7770 can max out bf3 on a 1440x900 res or maybe even 1680x1050
you HD7870 can max out the game on 1920x1080

I have the sapphire version (Not the OC version) and it runs at 51c underload. Pretty normal if you ask me

I'm getting 60 fps when standing still and nothing is going on. About 45-50 fps when in heavy fire fights and explosions! This may not be suitable to you, but I've been gaming, somehow, on intel hd 3000 integrated graphics all my life. Lol! So its a HUGE improvement to what im use to.

What kind of fps are you reaching?

Well I a have a 650ti which is a tad bit faster than the 7770 and I get close to 40-45 fps @ultra in the single player.

Its honestly not that hard. Coupled with a FX6300 a HD7770 can get a steady 60 fps in battlefield 3

I meant in BF3 multiplayer. I have an fx 6300 better than a 4100 mine is at 4.5 GHZ. My GPU is also not a 7870 it's from the 7900 series. And I have to turn down antialiasing to get 60 plus fps during huge battles. Other times I'm in the 100's

Just to give you some context, I own the XFX 7950 Black Edition single fan and I regularly hit 80C (however I oc to about 1020core and 1575mem).

The furthest I ve been able to push the card is about 110C before my motherboard said NO and shut down.
