My new graphics card Nvidia 770 MSI Lightning has 2 blue slots on the side of it, but it says DVI, I was under the assumption that blue = VGA

my old card Nvidia 650 2gb PNY has 1 white and 1 black slot, currently im plugged into the white slot

Does the slot im plugged into affect gaming performance? Also what is the difference between the slots? and will my new card be able to use my white cord to connect to my monitor? should i buy HDMI cord? what is the optimal setup, my monitor is brand new it has inputs for everything

Solution

No, DVI-D and DVI-I carry the same digital signal, the only difference is DVI-I also caries an analog signal.

The color of the dvi ports is not standardized, manufactures can make them what ever color they want. They may color them differently to idenfy different dvi ports. Your old 650 has 2 different types of dvi ports DVI-d(black port) and DVI-I(white port). Your new card also has the same 2 dvi ports but both are blue so you have to look at the port to tell the difference. here is more info on DVI.
