How much performance will extra 4GB of ram give ?

I wonder how much performance increase in games would i get if i were to upgrade my RAM from 4GB to 8GB.

My specifications:
Microsoft Windows 8 Pro
Inter(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 530 @ 2.93GHz
ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB
RAM 6GB
Hard Disk 596.07GB Total Capacity
Motherboard Gigabyte H55M-S2H

Thanks guys for telling me more about RAM.
Now I understand what purpose it serves.
So far I thought the more RAM you had the more performance you will get but I guess I was wrong.
So that's why I didn't get any performance boost when I installed my 4GB stick of RAM ...

Think of RAM as lungs of your PC. Being able to hold your breath longer doesn't make you dive any faster. What you basicly get from having more RAM is overall system snappiness while multitasking. More RAM = less pagefile (HDD) activity.
This applies to situation where you cap your RAM with your daily tasks, of course (which you should really, because 4GB is just not enough for having any semblance of multitasking, i.e. running a browser with 10-20 tabs, few messengers, music player, in the background while gaming at the same time).

Close to ZERO....There are few games which support using more than 2GB RAM/executable file and adding more memory to system won`t speed your games.... you could only have more programs active simultaneously and so increase the overall system reponsivness... but if that is not an issue on 4GB... 8GB won`t improve much either.

You would get better overall system performance, but I suspect your gaming would still experience a bottleneck due to your graphics card. Of course that depends on which games you are playing.

Watch your hard drive led, especially when doing other things like surfing the web, if you notice a lot of activity, that's generally reads and writes to your page file and an indication you could use more DRAM...With more, most of those reads and writes will stay in DRAM and provide much faster response when you change pages etc
