Or ignore my musings, you are after a z77 board...ROG Formula boards were rather popular.

I built around the ASUS Maximus VI Hero, which is now $40 cheaper and offered the same basic features as the sabretooth, minus the tuff armor.
It does have a lack of fan headers though CPUx2 + 3, so I had to spring 20 bucks for a simple controller for 5 fans, sabretooth has CPUx2 + 4

Of course you can spend a lot less and get the same results, but I rather like the quality of ROG parts.

Is this standard ATX?

Aside from switching to Z77, what are you looking for in terms of improvements?

V-Pro is a better board than Sabretooth, IMO. That thermal armor doesn't really do anything.

Deluxe has dual-NICs and some improved board architecture that can help when you're making simultaneous use of certain interfaces.

ROG has mostly aesthetics and some microtweaks for OCing.
