Hi everyone, love this forum, hopefully one day I can help others as my knowledge grows.
I purchased the PowerColor 7870 Myst Edition (Tahiti LE) for $229 but realized that it may be overkill and a waste of money since the max resolution of my monitor is 1680x1050 but it supports HDMI - the 1080p is downscaled I believe. (HP monitor w2207h).

People have stated that 650 Ti Boost 2GB ($169) would be more than enough power at that resolution and I figured if I needed to get more performance for games in a year or so I could just get another and SLI them.

My original budget was aiming for under $200 since I only have been playing games that don't require much from a GPU. I don't play Crysis or FarCry or any of those extremely detailed games. My only game interest as of now is League of Legends / SC2 / Shogun Total War 2. I also use the rig for Graphic Design.
I didn't want to go over the $200 mark for the GPU but I already ordered the PowerColor 7870 (Tahiti LE) and I was thinking about returning it. I am worried that I made an impulse decision and I may be going overkill and not using it to its "fullest potential" therefore "wasting money". It was on sale for $229 (down from $259) and came with 4-5 games. I was thinking I could save $60 with the GIGABYTE 650 Ti Boost 2GB ram for $169 and still get everything accomplished.
Should I just stick with the 7870 for the extra $60 and not have to worry about upgrading for several years?
Any thought and suggestions are much appreciated.
And I know i messed up my ram, should have got 2x4GB sticks for dual-channel
P.S. - Sorry I have the worst buyers remorse and you all had to read all that!
