What's a Good Thermal Compound

Hey, I don't need something extreme but I'd like to have some extra thermal compound when I get my new system. The CPU (FX-6350) probably comes with it, but I've heard the stock paste isn't the greatest.

What thermal paste should I get, keeping in mind I don't need to pay a lot of money?

The CPU will not actually have the paste on it but the stock heat sink fan will. If you are using an aftermarket solution, then you should apply your own thermal compound. I really like the Artic Silver 5 which costs $8...

What is the difference? Do you find it to be wort the extra cost of $1?

Yes I do , I switched from Artic Silver 5 to MX4 , and have had better results.

Ok then in that case I stand corrected... kalef21 you should get MX4 NOT Arctic Silver 5!

I use to use AS5 , but on a suggestion in the forum , I changed and I'm glad I did.

The Antec Formula 7 is a great choice. My friend used to have 37Degs on idle and 76Degs on load with the MX4. He now has 34Degs on idle and 70Degs on load on the Formula 7. His cooler was the Cooler Master h70. Never thought the Thermal compound will drop temps so much. Also Thanks for posting.
