GPU Fan Problem

So I built my computer a little over a month ago. I have a NVidia EVGA GeForce 660 2G Superclocked. It works great. Only problem is, a few days ago, I noticed when I shut my computer down, the GPU fan remained on. The only way to shut it off was to turn off my PSU or turn off the power strip my computer is plugged in to. Here's what's even weirder: When I turn the power strip back on, the fan doesn't turn back on. It is only when I shut the computer down and nothing else. It can't be a short because if it were, the fan should turn back on when it has access to power again. I have no idea why this randomly started happening. I tried shutting down the computer, then unplugging the GPU's power, but the fan remained on. It is the connection to the mobo that is supplying power to it. Other than this, there are no problems with the card.

After further experimentation, I believe I have found the source of this problem. My video card is connected via HDMI to an HDMI switchbox. This switchbox, in the past, had not been recieving enough power through the HDMI, so I bought a supplemental power adapter for it. This adapter is plugged into the same power strip that my computer is plugged into. So, when I shut down my computer, the video card is drawing power via HDMI from the switchbox, which only turns off when I turn off my power strip. Even when I unplugged my PSU, the fan would remain on. I guess I sorta answered my own question. Might as well leave it up for others who are having the same problem to see.:)
