Hi guys,

I've had my PC for a while now (~jan 2009) and have never had any issues up until today. I opened up my case to remove my PSU (I need it to build an eGPU - another story...). Anyway, I realised how dusty everything has gotten since the last time i cleaned things. I disconnected the external plug from the PSU and dusted everything with compressed air.

I plugged everything back in and the LED on my mobo lights up as usual, however neither the mobo power-on button (nor by extension the case one) seem to do anything. The fan doesnt spin up, no beeps... nothing.

The PC was working fine before I did this so it must be the act of dusting... What do I do? Have I shorted something? Have I ****** something up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Update! After scouring my computer looking for issues, there seems to be white gooey stuff coming out of my PSU (??!). I'm going to go ahead and assume this isn't normal. I'll post some pictures asap.

What on earth is going on? The computer worked up until last night... I turned it on this morning to dust it...

Presumably I need a new PSU at this point? Is there any chance it could've fucked anything up?

Would these things cause no boot up at all? As in.. nothing happens at all when I press the power button. Nothing at all.
Thanks a lot for the help by the way :)

I've removed the mobo from the case. I've taken the RAM and GPU out. All that's connected is the CPU, the CPU fan, the ATX cable and the 12v ATX cable... Still nothing. As it happens I have a spare CPU fan which I've tried.. still nothing.

So i plugged my stripped down mobo into another PSU and it boots up fine. Success!

Is there any chance it's my PSU cables at fault or is it just the PSU? Unfortunately the other PSU I used isnt modular so i cant try swapping cables.

1st, dont use compressed air to clean the dust (if the air comes from an compressor) compressor generally trow water with the air, and water is not good for computers

2nd i see eveyrhing is working, look at the front panel header on motherboard to see if have some loose wire, nest time this happens you will know
