Crossfire Mini DP to DVI Active adapter

Hello all,

I live in Australia and i am having trouble finding a active mini DP to DVI adapter. I did buy one from PCCG, the Wicked Wire one, but it... Sucks. Its always stuck on 640x480 res and even if i pull out the USB cable the display does not change, so this means its either NOT active and the USB is just for show or its totally screwed.

So i am going to return the Wicked Wire adapter tomorrow and was wondering if you guys can recommend a Active Mini DP to DVI adapter that i can buy in Australia. Preferably from a trusted Aussie store. I would like to keep buying internationally to a minimum.

Crosshair v formula z
Msi 7970

I recommend you stick to adapters on the Eyefinity Certified Dongles list (on AMD's website), or, any knowledgeable staff member at a reseller, because, we constantly get phone calls from people who have purchased from eBay, with exactly the same issue.

Part of the problem is:
1) At least one of the initial major manufacturers of DP Passive Adapters wrote "Active Technology" in their description of the product accidentally (and it persisted for a few long time).
2) The first few links on Google for a very long time described an Active adapter as one which was simply externally-USB powered. Many resellers started marking any adapter with an additional USB power connection, as active (which was incorrect). The difference between Active...

Yeah, i have been for a while. Do you personally know any good adapters?

The difference between Active and passive adapters, is that the Active adapters have a special converter chip to modify DP signals specifically into DVI/whatever, whereas, the Passive adapters rely on the video card to do the conversion (but, Eyefinity cards at least can only do so for 2 ports max).

I strongly recommend Accell (Accell is the retail arm of Bizlink actually), however, I'm heavily biased towards Accell, because we distribute them in Australia. Accell is also the first manufacturer I am aware of which is producing active HDMI adapters so far.
