Hi all,

Any help here from the more technically advanced would be much appreciated. I have two SONY SDM-S5I'S plugged into my Z77 motherboard, one straight into the vga connection and one with a vga cable with a dvi adaptor. The manual for the motherboard says that this dual setup is supported. However when I open the INTEL graphics control panel and go into multiple displays tab, only one monitor is showing up and I cant use the second display. I have been using the one display for months now and this is just bugging me. Thanks very much in advance for any replies.

Tony

The vga is working. I have tried two adatpors which worked on my last motherboard. To run dvi into my monitor does that mean I would have to get a vga to dvi cable? Do you think the dvi connection is not working on the motherboard?

Cheers

This is the same from day one, only single display in dropdown and no other selection available. Any thoughts on why this would be?

This is an old thread but I noticed its left unsolved.

I had a similar problem. What I did to fix it was booting up with only the dvi monitor plugged in, once Windows was running, I plugged the second monitor (VGA) on the board. The intel graphics driver detected the second monitor and I was able to set which was the primary display. Next restart went well.

Hi, firstly thank you very much for taking the time to post an answer to this old thread. I gave up on this and never got the second monitor running. I gave this a go after reading your post but unfortunately I didn't work for me. I will be getting a graphics card soon, I hope, and will be upgrading my displays too. Money money money. I had thought of sending back the board but but I cant do without the pc. Thanks again, happy new year to you.

Wow, this advice was exactly what I needed! I'm running an i5 2500K on an ASUS P8Z77-i deluxe without a gpu, and could not for the life of me figure out why I could only get one monitor to display on boot-up. Tried all kinds of different things, but it never occurred to me to boot with one monitor only (DVI), then plug the second one in (HDMI) after logging into Windows. Was starting to think I had a hardware problem. Thanks, glomlapay!
