I have been having these problems lately were sometimes the computer will turn off when I request it to restart. Often times when I download something or do windows updates that requires me to restart the computer this problem will occur. I tried putting it in safe mode to see if it was a hardware or software problem and found that the computer would turn off. This made me wonder if It was a hardware problem. I have only installed my video card drivers on my computer, my motherboard driver CD won't work and I haven't installed any drivers on my CPU. Could this be causing the problem or might it be a hardware problem or something else? also wen I turn it on it will go for a few seconds than turn off.

As far as I'm concerned, don't use the restart button to restart your computer. Just hit start/shutdown/restart. Simple as that. The restart button (to me anyway) is for when you've missed the POST screen and were looking to get into the BIOS. I hit restart before the Windows screen pops up if possible, otherwise I don't use it at all. It COULD be a hardware problem in that you may have the case wiring attached to the motherboard in the wrong order. Check the motherboard manual and compare it to the case manual and be sure that the wires extending from the front of the case are connected to the motherboard properly or you may run into issues like that.
