My laptop wont connect to my second monitor via hdmi

Hey, i got a problem with my computer/monitor my monitor wont show anything but my laptop can see its plugged in so i have no idea what could be the issue. Ive tried the fn thing and dont work.

How are you sure? I would make sure that all the cables are fully in their slots, and that the monitor is on. If the laptop shows a connection to the monitor, then it shouldn't be the problem of the laptop, it should be a problem with the monitor itself.

What does the display manager show? Both screens listed? Is the second screen enabled? What does it show when you click on the second screen? When you say it does not show anything, is it totally black? Some people think that it will automatically show all the icons on the second monitor and think that it's broken when it's not, but is just showing the background. What exactly is "not showing anything"?
