Been having trouble with my machine lately.
I can do everything normally, but after an undetermined amount of time (happens randomly) my computer will instantly black screen, and become unresponsive. My monitor doesn't receive any signal from the graphics card, and forced shutdown doesn't work when I hold the power button.
The only way I can get it to shut down is by unplugging my PSU and draining the motherboard for a few seconds, then plugging it all in and rebooting. Windows comes up with "Windows didn't shut down properly" and all the options of safemode etc, but I can boot it up with the previous settings and it works, until it decides to black screen again.

Any ideas?

This could be multiple problems. 1) The GPU may be faulty, overheating, etc. Try taking it off and using the CPU's integrated GPU if it has one. 2) PSU is not holding up. Try using a different one. 3) You may have a virus, get to Safe Mode, and perform a virus scan. I recommend Malwarebytes. 4) Perform a Mem Test to see if one of your RAM sticks are bad.

The GPU is brand new. I thought this was the problem at first with my old HD5670, but it was replaced a few days ago with a HD6670 and I still have the same problem. The PSU is also fairly new (less than a year) and its a Corsair TX850. Not denying it might be the problem, just stating how old they are. The motherboard is the oldest (about 2-3 years) and the RAM is about the same. The CPU is around 2-3 years old (Phenom II X4) and has it's own problems IE Windows not booting when cores unlocked, temps get to about 70-80C when using Prime95 for stress testing.
I will run a Mem Test and report back with what it says.
Thanks for the reply.
