Hi Guys,
I helped a friend install a new XFX 7870 GPU today, and upon booting it was running at around 38 degrees whilst idle, and reached up to 70 degrees when playing BioShock Infinite (on max settings for around 3 minutes or so of play, whilst the fans were at 100% speed).

Are these temperatures normal? I have an MSI card myself, but after reading a few forum posts I've found that the common view is that XFX cards don't always have good cooling.

Would it be a good idea to install a new after-market cooler, or am I worrying about nothing? I don't trust a cooler that can reach 100% whilst the GPU remains at 70 degrees.

Thanks,
Matt.

That's completely fine, anything over 85C is considered overheating. I recommend to try...
