Im trying to figure out the fan connections on a ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 AM3+ MOBO and the case will be a BitFenix Colossus Venom Window. The case has two 230mm fans and for the life of me I cannot find if they are 3 or 4 pin connectors, evan on the manufacturers site. Im also purchasing two 120mm Blue cathode case fans that do come with 3 and 4 pin connectors.
So first issue ,does the "case fans" have 3 or 4 pin fan connectors, need to know this to see what type of adaptor I need.
2nd issue, I have 4 fans (2 case fans and 2 added) and only 3 x 4 pin chassis fan connections on mobo ofcourse not including the cpu fan connector. So I will need a adaptor and Im choosing the bitfenix Alchemy cables. Im assuming it will be a molex to 3 x 4 pin connectors but would love some confirmation on what the cable is offically called im looking at this site for the cable.

3rd and last ?, What are your thoughts on adding a Fan Controller , is it really needed for a non OC ,single GPU ,full tower, 2 x 120mm, 2 x 230mm fan setup. or at this point would it just be cosmetic ?

first question- In my case the stock case fans have always been 3 pin.
Second question- Called a molex to chassis adapter (I use one for one of my 140mm intakes) http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002VSTYJC/ref=oh_de...
Third question- up to you, I tend to configure my fans in the BIOS, I guess it is more convenient.

Thank you for the response, so cases usually are 3-pin fan connectors, and that would match up with the cables I see on BitFenix are all for molex to 3-pin fan adaptors. But my mobo is 4-pin so in this case I would have to select a mobo with 3-pin fan connectors or find a adaptor that will convert all four 3-pins to 4-pins to plug into that mobo is this correct ?

Not entirely the 4th pin is for fan control, (for example Q-fan for Asus). I have two 3 pin fans connected to 4 pin headers.

Ahhhhhh so it does not matter any 3-pin will fit into a 4-pin connector , hahahaha I was over thinking it, NICE. So I would only need a 4 to 3 pin convertor if I was using a fan controller. Well then that means all I need to get 4 fans into a 3 fan connector mobo is the 4-Pin Molex to Triple 3-Pin Fan Adapter 12V right ?

The pin that will be unused on your fan is the PWM meter which is used to change to fan speed.

Also ( I just got this mobo) in the bios you can set up the temp threshold for your cpu so that the fans will speed up or slow down automatically with the 4th pin used. a decent 4 pin fan is under 20$ I just order 4 from amazon with a splitter for the 2 hinged fans in my Thermaltake mid tower. As far as using a splitter make sure 1 side has the rpm disconnected so the mobo doesn't get confused!
