Hey guys I have been getting pretty high temps and my stock cooler isn't cutting it. I am looking to OC in the future. My temps while playing BF3 shot up to a dangerously high 67 degrees celsius. I have been looking at these two coolers below.

I would definately recommend the Cooler Master 212 Evo. It's the best cooler in it's price range and can compete with low end closed loop coolers. I have the same processor at 4.1GHz and i get ~40C idle and ~58C load. It really is an amazing cooler.

If you aren't 100% certain what the "normal operating range" is on a CPU, please, at the very least do a bit of research for yourself to validate what is normal and what is dangerous.

62C is the maximum safe core temp for a Phenom 965.

Straight from AMD-

Specs for the entire AMD CPU line *NOTE* that FX series does not mention max temps - http://products.amd.com/en-US/DesktopCPUResult.aspx

jimthenagual suggested the Hyper 212 Evo, I also recommend it. I was able to overclock my Phenom 965 to 4,336 Mhz with that cooler. It can't be beat for the price if you decide to go with air cooling.

I recommend the Hyper 212+ or the EVO as well. I used to have a 965 BE Build with the Hyper 212+ you won't be disappointed. I reached a stable 4.2ghz overclock at about 1.45v with that air cooler. Your results may vary, but you can easily reach 4.2 with a voltage around 1.45-1.53
