i was looking into a small OC and from what i read i was just gonna bump up the multiplier to 44 and leave everthing else on auto or where it was and i also set my mem to 1600(the the mem i bought but when i was in BIOS i saw that it auto set it to 1333 so i though id change it, then i when into battlefield and after about 5 min it froze up and in the boot screen it said overclock failed, so i when back in and set everything back to where it was . i when back into battlefield and it did the same thing but this time i was able to ctrl alt delete it and i saw a window that said there was a direct x issue so i re installed the drivers and direct x, and gave it another go in battlefield, sure enough same thing but this time it just froze up. so i just restarted the PC and logged on to tom'shardware:p any help would be greatly appreciated as im still new to the ins and outs of PC's
my rig
Lga 2011 3.6 3.8 turbo
2 gtx 680 2g superclocked sli
16g mem 1600
850 powersupply

Solution
What set of DRAM (model #) and is it a single package or two packages? If from a single package, make sure the BIOS is up to date, enable XMP and select profile 1...If it's coming out of two package will prob have to set up manually
