Hi all! I'm sorry to add to the list of ever growing build threads this section sees everyday. I'm still in the learning process of computer hardware and computer assembly, I've gotten a lot better than I was a month ago, but there's still a lot I have to learn in terms of doing an actual successful build. My question is that of upgrade question, I'm currently rocking a pre-build iBUYPOWER that I purchased back in 2010. It came with a first gen intel i7 930 @ 2.8 ghz processor, an Asus P6T SE Mobo, and a Radeon 5850. I'm starting to notice my computer is slowing down a little bit in general and that some odd things are happening while using it (mainly screen flickers every 20 minutes or so). I was pondering an upgrade to Haswell for some better gaming performance, but I'm having a hard time deciding if whether or not I should just perhaps upgrade my GPU and maybe some of the other components instead of a complete overhaul. I figured this would be a good opportunity for me to learn how to assemble a computer. I've put together a list of some of the parts that I liked, I tried not to cut corners anywhere and think I did okay within the confines of my budget. The main titles I play are World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike: GO, and BioShock(haven't purchased yet, figured my computer might not handle it well). I'm also building this for general productivity purposes for college work. My budget is around 1200-1300. Thanks so much for reading, I love the amount of information available on this website!

I've omitted the optical drive since I would be bringing it over from my old computer.

Solution
If you want a quick fix to getting more life out of what you currently have, buy a 128GB SSD and install the OS on it. It'll feel like a brand new machine.

Sorry-Link fixed! :) Thanks, that's a good alternative too, I guess the new Intel processors have just made the thought of building a new pc for myself a little more alluring.
