How much will it cost for a monitor with the specs you mentioned?

You can go 1920x1080 but at that size, you do start to see the pixels but it would keep you around $300. going 2560 though to get rid of the pixels, you're looking at probably close to $600 and up. Of course, going with 2560 also means you better have a good video card to pump out that many pixels. What's the rest of your rig like and what kind of games are you playing?

I made the mistake of buying a 1080p, 27in monitor and it made games look terrible.

Now I own the Dell U2711 and it is really unbelievable how good games look, however, it certainly wasn't cheap.

I know the U2711 is going for around $600 right now and I highly recommend it. You may be able to find a cheaper 1440p monitor though.

Also, you will need at the very least a card with 2GB of VRAM. You really should aim for at least 3GB though.

Hope this helps.

I've read this many times, yet I see no pixels on my 27 inch 1080p monitor. Perhaps my desk is a little deeper than most, or perhaps people lean forward with their nose touching the monitor I don't know, but my vision is perfect and my 27 1080p looks no worse than my 23 inch 1080p unless maybe I lean forward and really try to analyze the crap out of it. Not saying a higher res isn't better though.

iv'e heard both stories, that's why i didn't want to get the 1080p at first due to the reviews iv'e read. what 27" monitor do you use?

Mine is a Samsung S27B350. It's a TN panel, at the time of purchase it was the best deal in my budget, but it looks quite good and viewing angles arn't an issue for me as i sit directly infront of it. (just measured, 28 inches from panel to eyes) I've seen a lot of deals on 27 inch MVA panels now though for just over $200. They're supposedly better than TN but I'm not sure about the response times and ghosting might be an issue.

I would love to have a higher res myself, but on a budget 1080p at 27 looks pretty good to me at least. (and thats coming from 23 inch 1080p)

Yeah ghosting is a big concern for me, i was looking at the BenQ GW2750HM and the biggest complaint is ghosting. so far i'm looking at these monitors:

1- Acer G276HLDbd
2- LG 27EA33V IPS
3- ASUS VS278Q-P

not sure if any of them are worth getting though, still looking into them.
