Resetting Asus router back to default

Hey Guys,

I got a Asus RT-N12 router from a company called WifiWind. The company was paying me 10$ a month to hook their router up to my network to broadcast a wifi signal out. Any users who connect up to the router would be required to pay an hourly fee to use my internet. I lived in an apartment building, however i was in the basement and no one could receive the signal other than the person up stairs.

The company is no longer in operation from what i can tell. I've called/emailed them about 10 times throughout last month without ever hearing back from them.

I imagine the router is running a custom firmware, however i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i could reset the router back to a default firmware, or even back to something like tomato or ddwrt?

Any ideas on how i might do this?

More about resetting asus router back default
  1. you don't see the restore button on the back, next to the WPS button?
press it for more than 5 seconds to restore factory defaults - but that may be restoring their custom firmware. don't know until you try

    Thanks for the fast response.

I've tried that, unfortunately it resets it back to their firmware, and i do not have a user/pass for accessing their firmware. That was my first thought, but it failed:(
  3. Using the Asus router recovery tool my have fixed this. I had a similar issue with a corrupt DD-WRT attempt on a router I picked up used.
