Hello all! So I am going to be upgrading my laptop shortly (hopefully) to a retina MacBook Pro. As you guys know, these laptops use SSDs, which are awesome, but don't offer a ton of storage capacity. I do like to game, so I will be running Windows 7 via Bootcamp.

I already have an external drive which I will be using to store my RAW photo files, but I would like to find a solution for my games so they don't clog the main drive.

So here are where the questions come in.

1) Is this idea plausible? I researched it but could never really find a definitive answer.
2) Should I buy an external HDD (i.e. WD My Book blah blah) or buy an enclosure and stick an SSD or 3.5" desktop drive into it
3) What type of connection do I need? I know USB 2.0 won't cut it for modern games. Would 3.0 do it? Or will I have to bite the bullet and get a Thunderbolt drive?

I would love to know your opinions!! Please!

Also, if you guys have any recommendations for external drives, enclosures with SSDs etc etc, please, let me know!!!!

its plausible. Both TB and USB3 should give you the full speed of the drive you buy with usb3 being slightly slower from what I've read.

I use an external for most of my games. I do use USB 3.0 and does the job very well. 1tb Seagate drive.
