Started a new build, haven't actually confirmed that anything works. Connected the MSI MPOWER Z77 to it's HDMI port and to my monitor (it only has an HDMI and Display Port, I don't have a Display Port connection), I'm not getting an image, period.

My back is killing me and I'm rather frustrated at this point, this is my second build and I'm not totally ignorant to computers - but I'm no expert either.

Anyone have some solutions?

NOTE: I have a GTX 760 but ended up pulling it and trying directly with the mobo since I did not get an image from the DVI connection.

Also note, I have Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I72600K so on board graphics processor is a go as far as I know.

I'm at my wits end, and I'm hoping some one here knows how to either set the BIOS to the HDMI if it's set to Display Port or troubleshoot the problem - because MSI's tech support is a joke.

Solution
Welcome to the wonderful world of DRAM, In this case it's prob taking the newer sticks SPD info and using it to make adjustments to the BIOS, where with the other way and the sticks staggered it was confused

I feel dumb, but I figured it out. I had bought 8 GB of new RAM that was identical to my old RAM, but the old RAM is about 3 years old. I was running it staggered (i.e. new stick DIMM 1, old stick DIMM 2, new stick DIMM 3, old stick DIMM 4).

After swapping it to new sticks in DIMM 1 and 2 and old sticks in DIMM 3 and 4 it's running, but I don't understand why this is happening? The only changed spec I see on the old RAM from the new RAM is that the old stuff was rated from 1.5-1.6V and the new stuff says 1.5V.

Should this be occurring, or am I missing something important here even though I found a fix?
