This is going to be my first build. I'm really looking for something that won't be obsolete in 2 years, and can be upgraded as time goes on. I appreciate the help in advanced!

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: This month

Budget Range: $500-600

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming at moderate settings, and watching movies. No editing movies at all.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: all

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: wherever is cheapest

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Los Angeles CA

Parts Preferences: no preference

Overclocking: Maybe if needed

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920 x 1080 using 40" LCD TV using HDMI

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Laptop crashed. No Computer now, so I'm looking for something that can last me a while!

This build will handle most games at 1080p quite well:

I probably should have mentioned I will be plugging this into my 40" in LCD TV through hdmi. Will this current set up allow that?

Thanks for the help! Turns out I don't need an operating system as I can get one from work. What would you recommend upgrading with the 80 or so dollars? I know one thing Im looking to do is get a nicer aestetically pleasing case. Any recommendations on additional upgrades would be appreciated!

No need for an OS = better VGA card, better case, better PSU and a better motherboard for you :)

I see. Good setup you made there, just fixing it a bit ( for better VGA and PSU ):

Thanks for the builds and putting up with my questions! I am looking to buy a similar build to your final recommendation, but not until next week. Is it better to wait and buy all at once or is buying some now and some later ok?
