320 gb TOSHIBA External HDD problem

My 2 partitioned hard disk worked fine till about a month ago..
Now one partition is completely corrupt but the other one(smaller) lets me view the files but doesnt let me copy or move its contents. Media files stop in the middle of play and then explorer.exe gets stuck.

I connected it to my laptop as well, but the same problem persists there.

run error checking on the drive with both options checked off.
- rt click on the drive then on properties
- click the tools tab
- click check now in the error checking section
- make sure both options are checked off and click start.
this could take an hour. check on it periodically.
