Hi!

My girlfriend recently lost her MacBook pro and is stuck with her old Compaq Presario CQ50-105EO, which is running quite slow. So I suggested upgrading the RAM and replacing the HDD with an SSD. But as I am new to the world of computer components, I want to ask for help and reassurence, which hopefully some of you might give me!

So, here goes:

Laptop specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01518260&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3767080

Suggested new RAM: Corsair Value Select DDR2-800 SO-DIMM 4096 MB or Crucial DDR2 SO-DIMM PC6400 4096 MB CL6

Suggested SSD: Samsung SSD 840 Series 120GB 2.5" KIT

Will this fit? And will there be a noticeable performance increase?

If you buy a slim SSD like the samsung that fit in the laptop for sure. Although some laptops use a sata cable that only has half the power pins. I would recommend taking out the old harddrive and making sure every sata pin is in the connector. as for the ram, just look at the current ram, and see if the slots are full. If they aren't just buy one that is identical to the current one. Otherwise you should be able to find a RAM support list somewhere. Good luck.

Sorry for late reply. I have no idea. I'm guessing it would just use standard laptop memory. I'm sure you'll be able to find it.
