Is this a good build for a $1000 Budget?

This is going to be pretty much the final build for my $1000 PC...

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k @ 3,4GHz (about $214)
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler (about $30)
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H ATX LGAA1155 Mobo (about $116)
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2x4 GB) DDR3-1600 MHz RAM (about $46)
(removed an SSD from this build mainly because of my budget, and it's not to be discussed about.)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD (about $59)
GPU: GeForce GTX 660 (about $200)
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case (about $49)
PSU: SeaSonic 520W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V/EPS12V PSU (about $77)
Optical drive: Asus DRW-241ST DVD/CD writer ($19)
Monitor: Cheapest 1080p i could find: about $130
mouse + keyboard(since i already have the speakers): about $60.
Total: $1000 (the prices may vary, i know.)

anyway, what do you think about this build?

P.S. should i buy a gtx 660 TI instead of a gtx 660, for like +50-70 dollars off the budget? would it be worth it?

Well, it's not bad, but there are a number of areas in which cuts could be made to redirect funds to the GPU, which would be most optimal for a gaming system. That said, as I do not know your location, nor the intended use, I can't offer specific advice.

This CPU is enough to game from, shouldn't effect FPS much, however a faster GPU will raise your FPS massively.

do you SERIOUSLY think that downgrading from the i5-3570k to the AMD FX-6300 is actually worth going from the 660 ti to the radeon HD 7950?

No, it definitely is not worth it.

This is a very good build. Only thing I would suggest is getting a cheaper keyboard/mouse and putting that extra money into the GPU to get a 760 (~$250 and significantly faster than a 660)

Good. And depending on the day you might be able to find some RAM at 1600Mhz versus 1333 for the same price (maybe a few bucks more, but worth it)

I do think that it's worth it for upgrading from a 660 (non-TI) to a 7950, it will produce a lot more fps.

Always remember that for under $1,000 you can get the following baseline components, which may be a better deal if you already have a Case and Power Supply Unit:

GPU: GeForce GTX760 with at least 2GB --- $320
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K (3.4GHz), --- $250
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD3H (Z87 Chipset), --- $227
RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1333MHz/1600MHz DDR3, --- $70
SSD: Samsung 830 or 840 Series 120GB SSD, --- $128

If you have a better budget then get a better GPU than the GTX760, never get anything less than the GTX760 if you plan to play modern 3D Games!

If he were to get this I would highly recomend him getting a Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-internal-hard-drive-sh103s3b120g) because of it's faster read/write (Read 555MB/s, Write 510MB/s vs 830 Series Read 520 MB/s, Write 320 MB/s).

Yeah, the Samsung 830 isn't what is used to be. As a baseline comparison it also excludes certain parts. (Case, PSU, etc.) but it works as a 'trim back until you get to $1,000.

I think most ppl are recommending the new socket now though, right?
