Hey all, I received my NZXT Sentry 2 fan controller today. I bought it because the fan control options in my BIOS didn't allow for an automatic fan speed setting with my 3-pin 120mm fans. I only have two fans, one front/bottom intake and one top/rear exhaust.

Anyway, I'm wondering what temperature the fan controller will aim for when set to automatic. I'm also unsure where the best spot for the temp sensors assigned to each fan would be. I'd assume the hard drive for the intake and CPU for the exhaust, but I'm unsure exactly where on those components. I'd really rather not have to disassemble anything to install the sensors... I'm a noob and touching components scares the crap out of me.

I don't actually care if the temperature readings are accurate, so long as they're close enough for the fan controller to provide adequate cooling.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Solution
I had one and if you have a good air flow case then don't matter where you put the sensors. You just install the unit into the 5.25" bay and connect the wire, placed the sensors. You are set.
Also the yellow tape is useless I use the cable ties to tie the sensors, because the tape is off only after a week. And you are better use the automatic mode to control the fan speed, because even in 40% manual you will get some noise. By the way I had the COOLER MASTER R4-L2R-20AC-GP case fans.
