SSD Performance Problem

Hi guys,

Recently, I got myself another SSD which is Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 120GB SSD 7mm. In the statement there, this should be faster than my previous one which is Plextor M5S 128GB SSD. However, I feel that the new drive is slower than my previous one as it has a longer boot.

Mushkin SSD: Read Speed up to 560MB/s, Write Speed up to 515MB/s, Random Read and Write Speed 90,000 IOPS.
Plextor SSD: Read Speed up to 520MB/s, Write Speed up to 200MB/s, Random Read Speed up to 71,000 IOPS, Random Write Speed 51,000 IOPS.

However, the benchmark is kind of different.

Please help me with it. I am not sure what is the problem. Both of them are in AHCI mode.

if crystal diskmark uses incompressible data you will get a low score from a mushkin drive

as ssd also gives mushkin low score

try atto benchmark and see how it scores

The Read and Write speed seems to be on the right path already. But why the boot up speed is slower? I start to record when the bios screen appear. O.O

I boot one of the ssd at a time with a hard drive which is my storage drive.

Would it be my hard drive causing it to be slow? But I did not install anything into hard drive.o.o

Hi mcnumpty23,

I tried boot with the mushkin SSD today and it does feel the same speed already. I think it might be slow in the first few run?

I tried to benchmark with AS SSD Benchmark and Crystal Disk Mark. The results are more favourable to Plextor SSD. Only Atto is more favourable to Mushkin one.

Does it mean Mushkin is not better compare to the Plextor one as it is not good at processing incompressible data?
