So I'm waiting for my NVidia shield to come in (stupid delay), and I need to upgrade my GEForce GTX 460 graphics card but I'm only allowed to spend $150-220. I'm not too savvy with all of this computer lingo. Can anyone help? I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore gamer. I just want to be able to play Borderlands 2 on the shield. Can anyone give me some direction.

He clearly stated that he is buying a new card specifically for the Shield. AMD cards are not compatible with it. And yes, you do need at least a 650 to use the Shield. I highly recommend the 760 over the 660.

For your budget, I'd recommend a GTX 660. It's a decent card, but nothing over-the-top. You can pick it up on Newegg for just $194 after the rebate and shipping.

If you're willing to spend a bit more, you can get the new GTX 760 for $250. That is, if your OK with waiting until Amazon restocks it. It performs a bit better than the 660.

The 660 is what I was looking at. Maybe if I save up a little more I'll get the 760. But just out of curiosity whats the difference between the 660 and the 650 Ti Boost? I only ask because some of the reviews said they're almost the same and its like $50 difference.

No, do not get a 660, better get a 7870, it is a beast at that price, if you cannot get the 7870 then go for the 7850 but just do not get a 660, it is not a match for the AMD cards at this price point.
Nvidia is awesome at the higher end but at the mid range it is the AMD who rules and offers better performance for about the same price.

Go for 7850 or 7870 depending on your budget.

yeah but I need an NVidia card higher than 650, in order for it to be compatible with the NVidia shield, atleast that's what I thought.

Nvidia card is needed, that is correct. The 650 ti boost does meet the requirements, that said I'm not sure how well it will perform. Here is the list of requirements straight from nvidia.

System Requirements for PC Game Streaming:
> GPU: GeForce GTX 650 or higher desktop GPU (Notebook GPUs are not supported at this time)
> CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 3.1GHz or AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.8GHz or higher
> System Memory: 4GB or higher
> Software: GeForce Experience™ application and latest GeForce drivers
> OS: Windows 8 or Windows 7
> Routers: 802.11a/g router (minimum). 802.11n dual band router (recommended). A list of recommended routers will be provided at launch.

From reviews I've read on the 700 series, I think it would be worth looking at the 760. From what I looked at on newegg, 650ti boost would run about $160, 660 about $175, 660 ti about $235, and 760 about $250.

and then it jumps up like another $200 for the 770... so 760 it is; my girlfriend is gonna kill me but oh well, its only a little over budget.
