So, I have an windows 8 acer laptop. I did not upgrade to windows 8 from windows 7, I bought an acer laptop that had windows 8. All of a sudden a plug in crashed and they were doing and upgrade, I was stupid enough to turn off the laptop and after the acer logo came on, it goes to " operating system not found on the top left corner. I pressed F2 and got to the system settings. I changed a couple things that I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING and everytime it shows up something new I just keep pressing control-alt-delete and it keeps flashing over and over. IDK what to do.

Solution
I had the same problem this works if your hard drive is formatted and your computer does not recognize when you want to install.
Solution 50% it might work and plus and if running windows 8 you will lose your LC key, if you have the CD/DVD the LC Key will be on your Disc check before doing it.
You have to have USB 2.0 to SATA IDE 2.5 3.5 5.25 External Adapter Cable,.and another computer

1. take the hard drive out of your laptop/desktop Check if everything is properly connected it might be misplaced.

2. connect the External Adapter Cable to the HDD (Hard Drive) to another computer and wait till the computer recognize the HDD. If it does not recognize check the cables if it does not most probably your HDD is Dead

Note: you can back...

Note: you can back your files from there if you have any important files, like picture, documents.

3. after the computer recognize the HDD click start manu and type computer management and click on COMPUTER MANAGEMENT go down to Disk Management and search for your Disk (HDD) that is connected with the External Adapter Cable.

4. right click and click delete the volume make sure you the delete every singlle volume till it tells you Unallocated Drive or Unallocated Disk

5. disconect the hard drive and put back in your Laptop/desktop and reinstall you Windows angain. For windows 8 F12 To Boot With Acers F2 for Bios To Turn the SECURE MODE OFF and UFF so you you can install windows 7 if you want.

Reply if it works so others can try.

Hello, I came through this problem by going to the Bios (F2) when restarting and just select the "default bios settings". When the computer restarted, it could find the operating system :) Don't forget to save your system (create a restore point) as soon as you solve this so as to avoid serious problems next time :)

You need to clear out your CMOS settings in order to get rid of the password, which means removing the little coin CMOS battery from your PC (laptop?). If you have a desktop you can short the CMOS pins to finish the clearing out, if you can't get to those pins or you have a laptop, remove the laptop's big battery, remove the AC electrical cord, then remove the CMOS coin battery from the laptop, wait ten to 12 hours, then put the battery back in.

On a laptop you'll have to remove some covers from the bottom to get at the battery, on some ultra-thins you may have to take it apart in order to get at the battery, it depends on your laptop.
