Not sure where to put this so I am putting this under Graphics and displays
Anyway here our my specs:
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
CPU: Athlon II X4 640
RAM: Corsair 4GB DDR3 (2 chips)
GPU: Radeon HD 6870 (used but seller on Amazon claims it was never used and only opened to check contents
HDD: 1 TB 7200RPM 64MB cache
PSU: Came with this case => http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CHK70VS/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So the final parts for my computer arrived today. The GPU, dvd drive and HDD. I had setup the RAM and CPU with fan and connected it to case powered up fine (I think) weeks ago never checked for POST messages at that point.
So anyway after setup I get no video output through VGA port or HDMI port and no POST the fans are spinning on everything and dvd drive works and HDD sounds like it is working (I know it isn't a good indicator of whether something is broke or not, also when plugging in keyboard caps lock light, etc work does it mean anything??)I have tried all day to get it sorted nothing has worked as of yet.
I have reset CMOS, taken RAM out tried individually no POST, have plugged in GPU into both ports still nothing. Have yet to test individual parts trying to convince people to let me use their computers. All connections have been double and triple checked and I made sure I minimised the risk of static damage by grounding myself. Can anybody help me at all?

you mean no beeps(no post) when ram is removed, right? cleared the cmos? have u plugged in the cpu connector properly? have u plugged in your pci-e connectors to the gpu from ur psu? got display from ur mobo's integrated graphics(iGPU)?

Thanks but I have gone through that guide like a million times.
Not trying to be rude just a little annoyed that it took me a while to get this point of getting all the parts and been up all night trying to fix
But anyway after a lot of searching and responses from other forums (unless when I eventually test the components I find out different) it is more than likely the MOBO thanks everyone for the help

Because it requires 2 connections not one (which there was only one) and it didn't work anyway
But it didn't work yet and I am still trying to convince people to let me test the components on their computers

well that's the point, u are trying to run your gpu with one pci-e connector whereas it needs two. don't do like this, u can really damage ur gpu and try to get a new psu like the corsair CX500W rather than getting a molex adapter, u would be safe.

Already got the molex adpater and tested it the only thing left for me to do is to test each individual component and I am still waiting on someone's PC to test on
