Okay, I've been attempting to determine what is causing intensive games to crash after about 15-20 minutes of play. I jumped straight to the GPU at first, assuming it was the problem, but that has been ultimately ruled out.

I've gotten around to testing the CPU (An i5 3570k) with OCCT.

Within only 45 seconds of the test beginning, the temperature on one of the cores reaches 85c+, with the rest of the cores being close behind. The test stops itself due to the temperature.

I realize the test is intensive, but is this an abnormal temperature to be getting to, and would it reaching a dangerous temperature cause the system to 'Corrupt' the screen and stall, as it is doing now, as opposed to just cleanly shutting off?

Any advice on this would be appreciated, would it be a good idea to get myself a third party cooler if the temps are getting this bad, so quickly?

Sounds as if you have not installed the stock cooler properly. Reinstalling the stock cooler will probably solve your problem.

Remember that the cooler should be all the way through the MOBO, so you can see some small black pins sticking out.

I have had this machine for 7 months, and it was working decently then. It is possible the thing has worked itself loose, maybe the thermal paste wasn't applied properly at first and the issues has somehow gotten worse in time? I'll check the thing out and see what's what.

It is always a good place to start.
