CPU slowly cooking itself under load?

Sorry for endlessly posting on here, but really want all the kinks ironed out of this rig.

Fx-8350, no oc, the problem is under stress the CPU will get hotter and hotter till the system restarts.

Just tried to compile a 1080p 5 min video in WLMM and each time it would reach 80% before the system would shut down with no errors or BSOD or anything. Same happened with Prime95, temps would go up till system shutdown, my rig lasted 1 minute 23 sec before Prime killed it.

Just taken a small cooler I brought off and for the first time am using the stock cooler, the temps peaked at 60c but at least the compile finished!

Using Arctic Cooler MX2 paste applied today in a well ventilated case.

If anyone could help I would be greatly in-debted.

Regards, Rain²

Sounds like your CPU cooler was the culprit. Try the Cooler Master Hyper 212 or even the Corsair H80 that I use. The 8350 produces a lot of heat when it is under load and the water coolers seem to work well when you really stress your CPU.Is your side fan intake or exhaust? If it's exhaust it may be pulling the cool air from the front of your case before it can cool your case and components.

It is most likely a problem with your cooler. I had the same problem w/ my new build earlier today, and it turned out that one of my fan's hookups wasn't locked in properly, so the heatsink wasn't making sufficient contact. I'd suggest checking to make sure you hooked everything in properly... Stock fans are finicky.

Okay, right now everything is okay, Prime is/has been running for about 25min no issues, staying at 68/69/70c so I'm happy for the time being, will invest in a better cooler soon though.
Had that fan set as exaust for my Psu and Gfx card, is that no the best place for it?

Your front fans draws cool air into your case it mixes with the cool air from your intake side fan then is pulled up thru your GPU by the top exhaust fans expelling the warm air from the CPU and GPU. Heat rises naturally so this makes the most sense.
