I seen allot of these posts, but they all fall back to the same stuff:

CPU botlenecking.

Here are my specs:

Asrock X79 extreme4
i7 3930K @3.2
Sapphire 7970 OC edition X2
Corsair H100i
Corsair TX850 850w
Haf 922 with a intake 200mm fan blowing the cards cool
3X Benq GL2460 monitors 5760X1080

So you see the problem in the title. I get 30-50fps on crysis 1 maxed out on a SINGLE 1920x1080 monitor. Far Cry 2 is like 90-100. Guild wars 2 it's like 90fps.
THIS ALL ON SINGLE MONITOR, before i got 2 more.

Now at 5760x1080 i get 20-30fps on Crysis 1 and 30, barely 40 on Metro 2033.

And i get like 80C on the GPUS really quick...
CPU stays at 43C

I'm using a single Crossfire Bridge, exactly like in this PIC, if you find that helpful.

Also I have Catalyst Control Center 13.4.

There is a molex plug on my MOBO that says in the Manual, to connect if you're using Crossfire/SLI., which i did.

What could it be?

Also, what CCC version do you reccomend for Crossfire?

Thanks in advance.

Its a 6 core i7 it barely gets to 50% usage when playing a game. Its one of the most powerful cpus in the world.

Im sorry but i highly doubt its the CPU.

You come here asking for advice then you tell me I'm wrong without even attempting what I suggested?

I had it on 4.0ghz at one point but stopped because i had to install the new 16gb ram.

As i said, even without the overclock, the cpu under load gets barely 50-60% usage. If it would bottleneck, the cpu would be at 90-100% usage.

Just so you are aware, most these games will not use more than 3-4 cores, so 60% usage is actually pretty close to max usage. That said, Crysis 1 should get higher FPS than that with your CPU, but using more reasonable settings (i.e. not 8X or higher MSAA), you will become CPU bottlenecked. Crysis 1 may be old, but it still pushes systems to this day. The percentage of CPU usage is adding up all cores, but a bottleneck happens because of a single core hitting its limit.

Back off the AA and Crysis 1 should perform near 70-90 FPS max, to go higher requires more CPU OCing.

Also, make sure to get all the patches for Crysis. There was a lot of performances fixes with it, but you will also hit problems at the end of the game due to a memory leak. Just save often and reload the game while you go through the ending.

Metro 2033 is badly optimized, disable DoF from DX11 settings and watch the framerates soar. They will still drop down from time to time whenever you look directly at light shafts, (terrible optimization, I know). As Bystander said, ease up on the anti-aliasing. 8x MSAA is a waste of resources as it provides no visual gain from 4x MSAA and at 5760x1080 you will sometimes have to use 2x or even FXAA. Whatever you do, don't ever use SSAA. Frustrating I know, but it's just how this works. You gain something, you lose something.

Also if you encounter stuttering, install MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner or any program that will let you manually limit your FPS in games to 60 and keep it always on. This will help with the uneven framerating issues with Crossfire but it will not get rid of it completely.

Whatever you do, please do not buy a 3930K and downclock it or keep it at stock speeds. Frankly, you're being extremely rude to all the poor PC hardware enthusiasts and as a matter of fact, even I feel slightly insulted by it.

That last part was like something out of a Richard Nixon movie... Haha. But i never downclocked the CPU, i kept it at stock because i had only 4gb of ram before. Now i have 16, and i overclocked it to 4ghz, just so I dont touch the Voltages.

I'll try what you said. With the AA and Msaa or whatever it is.

Thanks

I put some DX11 options OFF in metro2033 and set the msaa to 4x, which is aparantely the lowest, and i get 70-80fps on 5760x1080.

At the same res. i also get 80-90 fps in Crysis Warhead with AA at only 2x, and everything else maxed out.

So you're saying that these fps @5760x1080 is normal?

But im really gonna try crysis 3, because it will probably use more than 2 cores on my CPU. I mean Crysis 1, and warhead were meant for Core 2 Duos or whatever they're called.

Yeah those framerates look pretty good to me.

4x MSAA is not the lowest anti-aliasing setting found in Metro 2033, adaptive anti-aliasing or AAA is. But if you're getting FPS that high then good for you. You can go ahead and enable Vsync which will lock your FPS to 60 as your monitors can't display more images per second anyway and boldly go up to 4x MSAA as long as your average framerates don't come crashing down below 60 or so too often. This way you will get the most visual fidelity, but your PC doesn't need to be stressed to its maximum all the time and it will thus effectively lower operating temperatures and noise levels considerably.

You also don't have to disable tesselation or DX11 completely in Metro 2033, just disabling Depth of Field will be enough. That's what causing massive lag. Just try to avoid 8x MSAA in games from now on, that's what really starts killing your performance and as I said, it provides no visual enhancements over 4x MSAA that are observable to a human eye at least.

Yes, this is normal, and even though your new CPU is faster than a Core 2 Duo, it is not multiple times faster. I am not even sure it is twice as fast. Back in the day, we played Crysis at 1280x1024 and we did not get much more than 40 FPS. We also did not use anything higher than 4x MSAA, and usually none. And when the game came out, pretty much NO one played at very high settings. It took a few years before that happened.

I know what you mean. My brother bought Crysis 1, just because he built a new computer that year. He had a i7 920 with a 5970. That ran preety well on Crysis 1. He gave me his HD 4850 and i had it till 3 months ago, along with a i7 920. I was actually able to max out Borderlands 1 ahah
