cant use more than 3.25

hi guys i have 6gb ram installed on my motherbaord but windows 8 is only recognising 3.25gb ram i am using 64 bit, my processor is 64bit, so i dont know what i am doing wrong,
i have 2 2gb ram sticks and 2 1gb ram sticks, any help ?

Yes the problem was you had two different brand RAM chipsets in your system. The reason why it wont say 4GB exactly when you took the x2 1GB sticks out is because some of that RAM is dedicated to the OS (Kernal memory) which cant be intervened via program applications. Plus more of that memory will be being used when virtual doing nothing.

the 2 2 gb ram sticks are the same but still even with 4gb shouldnt it recongise it as 4gb ?
the 2 1gb sticks are a different brand

You should take out the 2 1GB's memory chips. You shouldnt mix and match different brand RAM.

i done that but it still doesnt allow me to use 4gb ram

but here it is

processor: intel core2 duo cpu e4500 @2.2ghz 2.2ghz

intstalled memory (ram) 3.2GB

system type : 64 bit operating system, x64 processor
