Check the BIOS, it might be set to Onboard or Integrated VGA only instead of Auto detecting or using the PCI Express x16 slot.
- You may also want to consider flashing the BIOS to the latest version, or even latest Beta version available from Asus.

Since you have a 'M' variant motherboard I'm going to ask what Power Supply Unit your PC has in it.

Was the system ever banged around? I assume it used to work correctly, is this true?

Also, please do not start duplicate threads.

This is far fetched, but you can try updating your BIOS.

But I am afraid you probably have a bad motherboard. Can you barrow another card to try in it?

I have similar problem. But i have had my gpu work as long as i dont shut down the computer but it seems like a 1 in 100 chance that it detects it. Unplugging all power supply plugs and reseating my gpu worked a couple of times but now it wont. The wierd thing is when i took my pc to a computer store they tested other gpus in my system and they worked. My gou worked in their pc's too so it doesnt make any sense to me and i dont want to spend money on a new motherboard just yet

Did you install This= http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst1...

I did have catalyst drivers installed but not the beta one. I have now sold my computer with the video card that came with it (gt 430) and now i am waiting for varias new parts for a new budget gaming build.
x1 AMD FX6300 Six Core 14MB 3.5GHz AM3+ Black Edition CPU ($194.30) [id = SY05848]

x1 Asus M5A97 R2.0 AMD 970 ATX SB950 Socket AM3+ RAID, CrossfireX Motherboard ($163.40) [id = AC02963]

x1 Antec One Gaming Case - No PSU ($86.70) [id = ac2533]

x1 Transcend JetRam DDR3 1600Mhz 8GB Single Memory ($109.80) [id = SY05152]

And i already have my hd 6850, a decent psu and a 320 gb hdd (which i will replace one day)

I am really hoping that my gpu works in the new mobo

Sell the card to your friend & buy a new R2xx.~http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

The card is the problem, since there is nothing left.

what are your specs? literally the exact same thing with my old computer card worked fine but not in my computer. the guys at my local computer shop were stumped and said that it must just be my motherboard not liking that paricular type of gpu or something. the motherboard worked fine with the new cards they had. i had to buy a new system to put my gpu in but i was due for an upgrade anyway.

something that did get mine to go was i unplugged all my psu cables and reseated my gpu and sometimes that got it to work until i shut down my computer. i did that until i saved up for my new system.

what kind of motherboard and gpu are you trying?
