Mouse pointer and blank screen, nothing else. Help.

When I try to troubleshoot, it says that the OS was installed improperly - sometimes, not all the time. I'm starting to think that it might be a hardware issue. Could the issue be my motherboard or hard drive causing it to install improperly?

Try with the install disk, put it in and let it start, and it will ask if new install or repair system - pick repair system

It doesn't let me. It says there were errors installing it.

Might start afresh and format drive to NTFS as part of the process

Could it be? Yes...but then again it could be a number of things, the mobo itself is about the hardest to check along with the CPU, short of taking it to a shop or a builder ;( Sorry

Well considering I tried my other Windows 8 OS, the BIOS is up to date on the motherboard, the hard drive works on my other computer, and the RAM is functional... I think I may have to replace the motherboard...

, these are the kind of threads I want to get my hands on the rig....if you start tearing it down....one last chance here, may try the build on a bench...there might be a short or something, I've got a basic guide I wrote you can find here:

Wow what a guide. Honestly my only concern is getting the computer to work. This will be the second build I've done, and I like learning about the stuff that makes it work incorrectly or cause problems. I appreciate your opinion on the matter.
