Greetings all,

I have a desktop system that is probably about 7 years old now. I know that’s old, but I cannot afford a new system. It is a home-built (not by me) machine, and has worked well over the years. Over time, I upgraded the video card (the old one burned up playing Modern Warfare 2), and added RAM to its’ maximum of 2GB.

Recently, the system has been shutting off randomly, both while web browsing and gaming. In order to restart, I unplug the power cord, press the power button, re-plug in the power, and try to start it. It will usually do this twice before staying on.

After reading through the forums, I suspect that the power supply is the culprit. The power supply is listed as being a Turbolink 500, 20/24 pin. The computer case is by Apevia, and I believe that the power supply is also.

Question 1: Would a 600-650w psu be enough to power my system…? There is no room for any additional upgrades in it. The RAM is maxed out, and the video card is only about 18-months old.

Question 2: If the 600-650w is enough, I am considering an XFX-650W (model P1-650X-XXB9), OCZ ZT-650, Seasonic M12II 620 BRONZE, Antec HCG-620M, and the Rosewill HIVE 650. I am trying to keep the cost below $100.00. I would appreciate input from this knowledgeable community. Thank you.

650w is overkill for what you have.what is the wattage of the stock psu? you could go with the stock wattage but buy a decent psu, dont cheap out on this.
