Best AM3+ Mobo under $100

Solution
Asus M5A97 R2.0 (don't get the LE version)

-better MB means more reliable, better voltage control, heatsinks on the mosfets, better power phase system, better overclocking, longer lived, better audio... so on and so forth.

That Asus has a 8+2 power phase system, heatsinks on the mosfets, is feature rich, high quality motherboard, which supports some good overclocking with 125W+ cpus.

The ASUS m5a97 R2.0 is probably the best motherboard for under $100 IMO. Good overclocking board, tons of features including BIOS flashback, USB 3 front header, UEFI BIOS, overall a solid board.

Gigabyte 970A-UD3 hands down. 8+2 phases for overclocking plus some other exclusive stuffs like Dual BIOS. As for ASUS m5a97 R2.0, it only has 4+1 phases power design ( whoever said it has 8+2 is purely wrong ), and is the most buggy AM3+ board I have seen since this account of mine was created.

Agreed. I have the board and it is great for just about everything. BIOS is very easy to use and navigate. Overclocking is great. The only issue I have with it is its fan control in the BIOS, but if you download the ASUS SUITE II you can control the cpu fan curve, etc. A LOT of awesome features for such a low price.

Had a little problem at the beginning, but updating the BIOS fixed it. It has been going strong for 3-4 months.

the LE has a 4+1 phase
the base R2.0 has a 8+2

To make it clear ( and to correct my mistake about normal r2.0 above ):

M5A97 LE/LE 2.0 : 4+1 phases
M5A97 and M5A97 R2.0 : 4+2 phases ( better for OC-ing ram )
M5A97 Evo/Evo r2.0 : 6+2 phases
And even high-end M5A99FX Pro 2.0 : 6+2 phases

If you want 8+2 with Asus, maybe you'd need to get the last bosses like Sabertooth 990fx or Crosshair IV Formula...
