Slow performance in games.

My current setup is:

Amd Phenom II 955BE x4 3.2 GHZ (no oc)

4GB Ram DDR2 (2x2 dual channel ganged mode)

Nvidia 9800 GT (my previous GTX 260 broke)

Asus M3N-H Mobo

And my OS is Windows 8.

My problem is that i play most games with very low FPS. For example i play Vindictus at 10-15 fps (6 with action) with the lowest settings, and i have to play League of Legends with the lowest settings because if i get them higher, i get 3 fps or so when there's a bit of action..

Solution
Thanks for everyones help. I've solved it by overclocking the GPU, the improvement was beast (went from 10-15 to constant 60 fps at vindictus).

Your RAM and GPU are a bit out of date, I would suggest to get a new DDR3 RAM sticks and a beefier GPU, if your PSU can handle it.

Your videocard is rather weak for playing modern games of any type. Can you please tell me what kind of games you like to, or want to play? Aso tell me your power supply unit (psu) so I can make a good recommendation for an upgrade. Dnt forget to include a budget.

To answer your question directly, your PC is so slow while playing LoL because your video card (not gpu, that the actual processor in the card) is quite out-dated. Also your memory is quite old as well. A final note, if possible remove windows and got to 7, unless you uave a touchscreen.

Well, your PC isn't the newest but games like LoL - you should be able to kill that on at least High Settings - it's such an easy running game, so I think you might have an issue with either software or a hardware component. I don't believe the general setup is to blame, since you should be killing that game despite that the system is kinda outdated...

If you have any further question, feel free to ask!

If you have a change to check every component, I would suggest, you are doing that before purchasing anything.

I know the GPU isn't good, but like a year ago i could play Lol on max settings and vindictus online on max settings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBL8kmxi7Lk - not advertising the video just showing how it used to perform) and i don't see why i can't play anything at all right now. I'm planning to get a new GPU next month (probably a 560 TI) but atm i can't buy it and i'd like to see if there can be any temp solution.

Have you downloaded anything which might have contained some form of spy or bloatware? Also, have you checked to make sure you don't have a lot of applications running while you're playing? Lastly, have any of your components been exposed to something which could damage them in that time (excess heat, a spilled drink, etc)?

For the first i don't think so, the second no and the third no.

Odd. How old is the system itself? Also, did you purchase/build it new, or were any of the components used?

I must admit, your hardware predates my involvement in gaming systems, so I'm not entirely sure what it should be scoring. Do you have any benchmarks from the period when your system was getting higher FPS?

Edit: Also, do you have the current drivers for your GPU?

Unfortunately, trouble-shooting has never been my forte. I'm better at designing systems than fixing them, to my woe when something goes wrong with mine. One last stab: do you know what broke your 260? If so, might it be causing problems for your 9800?

Odd. Well, I'm afraid you've exhausted my (sadly limited) range of advice on PC troubleshooting. Hopefully, someone more qualified in this area can advise you further.

My apologies for not being of use.

Sounds like you may have some sort of malware (always a possibility). Get a spftware called malwarebytes pro (14 day free trial, no credit card info or stuff like that). Run a flash, quick, then full scan.

Then get a software called rogue killer. Scan, and the fix

Then get comborix, and run that software.

I wrote a guide on malware removal, Ill see if I can find it if you believe that may be your issue.
