My computer Info: (This is using a benchmark tool called NovaBench) Link

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T running at 3200 MHz

AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series GPU

16384 MB System RAM (Score: 186)
- RAM Speed: 1832 MB/s

Hardware Tests (Score: 62)

My total score is an 801

Which is pretty low, i have been seeing lots of lag out of my old Cpu. i have tired to fix it but realized that i was in need for an upgrade anyways. This thread has all the background info on the problems i have with my Cpu. I'm into everything gaming so if this Cpu does not do gaming well then i don't want it, it has a score of 702 compared to my old Cpu which has a score of 347. The average score for the exact same model the "AMD Phenom II X6 1090T" is 569, which is waaay higher, no clue why mine is so low. :(

My questions for you:

1. Is this better than my six Core Cpu?

2. Will it work with my Amd motherboard? (MSI 7642) Link to product here

3. Is is good for gaming?

4. Looking at the info above is this the right choice for making my computer better, and not to be a nightmare when lots of effects are on screen?

5. Worth the $200?

6. My brother told me that it might be my 2 TB hard drive being slow im 99% sure that this is incorrect but i would like to make sure i don't waste money on something i don't need.

7. I have 16 GB of ram and is runs pretty well, but i have heard of corrupted ram causing problems is this the case using the info above?

8. If question 7. is a yes or has a possibility of being yes, a website that can show me how to check if the ram is bad would be greatly appreciated.

9. I have read great reviews on this product, but i hear that the fan that's on top of the Cpu sucks, what would be a cheap, but good fan to put on top of the new Cpu that works with my motherboard too. Noise doesn't matter very much, i would like it to be quite but its not a big problem.

10. Since i will be playing many typed of games will this 8 core interfere with me playing games such as lag since most games never use 6 cores let alone 8.

11. I don't really know what bottlenecking is i assume it means your hardware is not very compatible so it slows down your speeds for some reason. So is my hardware compatible that there is no bottlenecking?

I really appreciate that you read all of this, it really means a lot to see people who really care if i can Pwn Noobs in LoL at 80 fps. XD.

Many Thanks

The FX 8350 indeed is better than your current CPU and putting an aftermarket heatsink on it and giving it a slight overclock would be the best solution. However, you current motherboard doesn't support FX series processors so if you want to upgrade, you'll need to put some money aside for a new motherboard and a new CPU. What brand/model you want to get is entirely up to you.

Personally I would recommend an Intel Z87 chipset based motherboard and Intel Core i5 4670K with an aftermarket heatsink ideally somewhere between 30 and 50 bucks (Cooler Master 212 !). This would give you the best gaming performance in return for your investment. I think you can leg it for a while with your current graphics card so I wouldn't worry too much...
