Greetings from Denmark! I've followed this site for a while, but this is the first time I've had a reason to create an account to ask a question. Or more like numerous questions confined in a single thread!

I currently have a rather old PC from around 2008 (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, 4GB Ram, Geforce GTS 450, Vista etc), and for a while it's had issues coping with the newest generation of games. With Rome 2 Total War coming out soon, there's finally something I want to play so much, that I'm willing to put out the cash for a new rig. I've kinda decided that upgrading is out of the question as I'd have to upgrade.. well... everything, I guess, so I'm looking to buying an all new computer primo september.

I've been looking around and found the following, that I think would suit my needs:
(Just for reference, my needs are: Gaming at max settings, silence, internetbrowsing (rarely less than ten tabs open), basic uni stuff, and a 'futureproof' rig, as I tend to stick with them for a while.)

Motherboard: Either Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Ultra Durable 4 or Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H Ultra Durable 5 Plus
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4770K 4x3.50GHz
CPU cooler:: Scythe Shuriken Rev.B (supersilent)
Ram: Kingston HyperX 16 GB DDR3-1600 PnP
Harddisk: Samsung 840 500GB SSD
GPU: Asus Gefore GTX770 OC 2GB GDDR5
Power supply: Raidmax 850W 80+ Gold Certified supersilent
NIC: Intel 100/1000 Mb/s Gigabit LAN
OS:: Windows 8

6 x USB 3.0
2 x USB 2.0
1 x RJ-45 LAN 100/1000 Gigabit Jack
4 x SATA2 3GB/s Connectors RAID(0, 1, 5, 10)
4 x SATA3 6GB/s Connectors
2 x DVI & 1 x HDMI

Some notes:

  • ■Now, a few of the bits like the CPU are capable of overclocking. I've never tried OC'ing before (and to be honest, I'm scared shitless of attempting it), and don't expect to be doing it right off the bat at least. But I won't rule it out completely.
■I can't figure out what the difference is between the two motherboards. As far as I can read from the manufacturer it's just random digits, letters and buzzwords.
■I know the RAM is over the top. It's basically just for futureproofing (and they aren't that expensive).
■My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW. Will that be capable of getting the most out of the above build or should I look into getting a new (or second) monitor?
■I haven't listed any prices as I'll be buying it in Denmark, and I don't want to give anyone a heartattack (our salestax is... high), so don't worry about that. I expect I'll be spending around $2000.
Any advice or comments would be most helpful!

Sincerely
Gilaras
