Hey wonderful people! Is AMD FX-6300 going to achieve 4.1GHz when turbo is on with stock cooler with these computer specifications:
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
Patriot ViperX D2 2x4GB DDR3 1866MHz
GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU II OC Edition
Zalman Z5 Plus
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
Corsair Builder Series CX600

Solution

His Turbo was 4.4GHZ !! The mobo likely over-volted to compensate.

Which would not typically be an issue with good air OR by lowering the P-State Turbo voltage with a utility like AMD MSR Tweaker.

What makes you think it wouldn't achieve its advertised turbo speed on stock cooler? You think AMD would lie?

It doesn't say anywhere on the box that you need an aftermarket cooler to reach turbo speed...

Welll ... it depends.

The processor has an unlocked clock multiplier. The base multi is 17.5x and the max Turbo is 20.5x. The variance is maintained when over-clocking unless you disable Turbo.

In other words, if you raise the base multi to 18.5x, the max Turbo multi becomes 21.5x, or 4.3GHz.

Well, a guy couldn't go above 3.8GHz with Turbo-boost with the same motherboard that I have and some other same components.
