CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (£88.79 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£68.97 @ Dabs)
Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£44.29 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£49.98 @ Scan.co.uk)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card (£163.30 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case (£47.95 @ Ebuyer)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (£49.99 @ Scan.co.uk)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer (£13.15 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £526.42

This would be much better.

If it's a bit too expensive, reduce the RAM to 4gb (1866mhz, CAS 9, 1.5V) and/or get a Sapphire HD 7850 instead.

At a budget of £500, Intel simply isn't a viable option. AMD are good anyway, and much cheaper.
